John Halsey


John Halsey has retired from careers in 
business and education, but remains active 
as a musician, teacher, and charity trustee.

John read mathematics at Jesus College, Cambridge and music at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, also studying cello with Christopher Bunting and organ with Richard Popplewell.  He taught at St Paul’s School for five years, then had a 25-year career in management and consultancy for Mars, later returning to teaching as Head of Music at Langley Hall Primary Academy in Slough.

As a church musician, over forty years he has been: a Gentleman of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal, St James’s Palace; Director of Music at St Luke’s, Chelsea; Organist of the Anglican Chaplaincy, Strasbourg, France; Acting Organist of Wangaratta Cathedral, Victoria, Australia; and, having returned to the UK, Organist & Choirmaster of Windsor Parish Church since 2006.

In addition to acting as accompanist for 
WECS and the Marlow Community Choir, John is director of the
Welsh Guards Choir based in Combermere barracks, Windsor.  John is a council member of the Royal School of Church Music.
